The Food Nanny

It feels like I haven’t been on here for age’s lol
Last night I was able to see Spencer for a little bit before Jessica picked me up. Then we saw The Food Nanny! She was pretty good. I mean there was some little questions I would have loved to ask but maybe some other time.
I bought her cookbook and it seems she has a lot of recipes I probably would eat. So I’m really excited to try these out.
She talked about buy from price first (cheapest) and taste second.
  • Don’t eat red meats back to back
  • Fresh fish or meatless food
  • Don’t eat pasta back to back
  • Don’t graze, know what hungry feels like

She does themes for the week which I think is a brilliant idea! There are some themes she does that I don’t really love; like Mexican but there is a few I would do. Her main point was to have the family always together for dinner as much as possible. It keeps the family closer to one another. And it kept her focused on serving meals and making everyone happy.

Her themes:
Sunday- Family Traditions
Monday- Comfort Food
Tuesday- Italian Night
Wednesday- Fish & meatless (including breakfast food)
Thursday- Mexican Night
Friday- Pizza Night
Saturday- Grill Night

My themes so far:
Sunday- Pizza Night
Monday-
Tuesday-
Wednesday- I try to do Crockpot recipes
Thursday-
Friday-
Saturday- I usually have leftovers because are schedules are always crazy

Some thoughts I would like to do but not sure where I would put them is: Grill, comfort, Italian, chicken, fish, breakfast or meatless)

She always said to eat 2-3 veggies A DAY, because a lot of people aren’t eating veggies. In my opinion because they are gross, I only like maybe 3 veggies and I wouldn’t want to only eat those 3 ALL the time. She says frozen or canned or fresh is fine. And that you shouldn’t get the small carrots in the bag you need to get the long carrots! Darn it and that’s one thing I thought I was doing well was buying at least the small carrots. Oh well. She always said you don’t put tomatoes in the fridge. I had not idea, good to learn that. (For Spencer)

I am excited to try more foods though and step out of my comfort zone. She was a really nice lady.

We got out around 9pm so Jessica and I stayed at my moms in Tooele. I did some laundry there since I was already out there. I slept in my sister, Stephanie’s, old room. There were a lot of blankets but I was just freezing for some reason and I had to get up to go to the bathroom twice which was weird because I didn’t drink much at all or eat much at all last night. Eventually I did fall asleep and when I woke up at 5:30 I was HOT because the heater started to kick in. So I just didn’t sleep well.

Around 7am Jessica and I left to come back to Salt Lake, Jerimiah got to stay with Grammy. Lucky guy. When I got home I folded the laundry and ate a little muffin and crashed until about 10:30. I had those weird types of dreams where I felt I couldn’t wake myself up but someone was in my house. AH I don’t like those dreams but some how I sleep pretty well through them. Then I got up and hurried to get ready for work.

Today seems fairly normal at work. I get a few calls back to back which can be difficult sometimes but then I have gaps of no calls. But I have things I plan on doing to keep myself busy.

After work I’m going to have dinner with Spencer, maybe something simple and then Channelle and I are going to hang out and do a few different things together. =]

Tomorrow is going to busy though, were going to help move my sister Stephanie and her husband Rick to Tremonton from Orem.

It's a fairly nice spring day outside! =] Well off to focus on work for the rest of the day.
Can’t wait until 5pm when I get to see Spencer!!

  1. Something that might help you figure out theme to do for the other nights is look at your schedule. If it's a busy night maybe do the meatless/breakfast theme because they are pretty quick to prepare.

    1. good thought! And Crockpot has always been or tried to be my Wednesday nights since Spencer only had like 20 minutes before meetings to eat dinner.
